Did Dr. Ayman Attia Sexually Harass His Employee?  When?

Dr. Ayman Attia claims that he started New York Internal Medicine in 2013.  A few years later, in 2016 through 2017, he sexually harassed his female employee.  Thereafter, the employee filed a claim of discrimination at the New York State Division of Human Rights.  An investigator for the New York State Division of Human Rights investigated the claims of the parties, interviewed the parties, and issued a “probable cause” that discrimination occurred.  As a result the matter was set down for a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge, who had to resolve the question – did Dr. Ayman Attia sexually harass his employee?

The Administrative Law Judge held a hearing in the Bronx.  He heard the testimony of witnesses from the victim, Dr. Ayman Attia, his Office Manager, and a former employee who witnessed Dr. Ayman Attia’s sexual harassment.  The Administrative Law Judge rendered his decision, finding Dr. Ayman Attia and New York Internal Medicine, P.C. liable for more than $55,000 on April 17, 2020.

After the decision of the Administrative Law Judge, the parties were permitted to submit objections to the ALJ’s Decision.

On April 16, 2021, the Commissioner of the NYSDHR issued a Notice and Final Order which upheld the ALJ’s finding that Dr. Ayman Attia and New York Internal Medicine, P.C. were liable for sexual harassment.  This decision upheld the monetary penalties and damages of more than $55,000 on Dr. Ayman Attia and New York Internal Medicine, P.C.
